Christine Davis has been an animal lover all
her life. Her career path led her into business management, work that satisfied the
left side of her brain but kept the right side quiet, longing for expression. In
1995 she decided to transition out of the corporate workplace and follow her heart toward
work that would express her love and respect for animals. Her journey led her to a
Native American teacher who used sound as a method of healing. By learning to listen
to the sounds and songs of the natural world, Ms. Davis was able to deepen her
understanding and appreciation of animals and the many gifts they bring to us.
It was during this time the author suffered the devastating loss of her own beloved dog,
Martha. As she grieved the loss of her friend, Ms Davis searched for a gentle book
that might lift her spirits and honor the relationship she and Martha had shared.
She was unable to find a book that understood her feelings of loss and spoke to her
heart. Knowing others must suffer the same sense of loss with the death of their
special canine friend, Ms. Davis started Lighthearted Press and wrote and illustrated For
Every Dog An Angel as a way of acknowledging the timeless connection that exists between
forever people and their forever dogs.
Christine Davis lives in Portland,
Oregon with her husband, Michael, and their dog, Jake, who came to them from the animal
shelter shortly after Martha's passing. In 1998, Jake adopted a litter of stray
kittens he discovered living under the deck, so the family has grown by four and now
includes Dickens, Pippen, Molly and Star. Ms. Davis is presently writing another
book about the special relationship between people and cats.
